An Overview of Pre-Action Systems

This presentation will review the functionality of non-interlocked, single-interlocked, double-interlocked, and fail-safe pre-action systems. Topics will include:

• Design criteria for double-interlocked pre-action systems
• Applications where double-interlocked pre-action systems are required and the reasons behind those requirements
• When a fluid delivery time calculation is necessary
• New pre-action technologies designed to meet the needs of modern data center applications
• Multi-cycle pre-action systems where water conservation is a priority
• Recent advancements in integrated pre-action systems utilizing nitrogen and vacuum technology

Joshua Teo

Joshua Teo is a member of the Special Hazards Business Development Team for The Viking Corporation. He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in science from Texas A&M University and is NICET Level III certified in Water-Based Systems Layout (WBSL).

Joshua began his career in the fire protection industry on the contracting side, gaining experience in both design and operations management. In his current role, he is responsible for business development activities related to special hazards systems, including OXE0 inert gas systems, synthetic fluorine-free foam, and pre-action, deluge, and FireCycle® systems.
